The Tshipi Borwa mine is owned by Tshipi é Ntle Manganese Mining, an empowerment company in which Jupiter Mines has a 49.9% stake. The Tshipi Borwa Project is located on the south western outer rim of the Kalahari, 40 km north east of Kathu. The Kalahari Manganese Field contains around 80% of the world's known high-grade manganese ore reserves.

Aveng Moolmans was awarded the Tshipi Borwa surface mine contract in October 2011 by Tshipi é Ntle Mining Company. The 5 year contract is to mine overburden and manganese ore. Our company is providing a full mining service which includes bush clearing, top soil stripping, drilling and blasting.

The mining fleet comprises of 4 excavators, 25 trucks, and 6 drill rigs along with the necessary ancillary equipment.

The staff complement is currently 379 and this number is expected to grow to about 400.

The contract commenced on the 29th of November 2011, with a team of 631 D & E scrapers, and towards the end of December 2011 the first PC 3000 shovel and 5 x TR 100 trucks were mobilised.
